Experts warn EU Withdrawal Bill threatens Green Brexit

A network of environmental groups has warned the EU Withdrawal Bill ‘gravely threatens’ the ability to deliver a ‘Green Brexit’.

The Environmental Policy Forum, which represents around 70,000 environmental professionals has written to both environment secretary, Michael Gove, and Brexit secretary, David Davis, outlining their concerns about the bill, which is due to be debated by MPs today.

The Committee on Climate Change (CCC) has warned plans to move the UK to a low-carbon economy are in danger of being derailed by a lack of action from the government.

In a new progress report out today, the committee said the lack of movement from Whitehall on this issue is making it difficult for businesses and the UK public to fully grasp the opportunities of the transition.
