Neighbourhood plans break the 200 mark
Some 200 neighbourhood plans have now been approved following three referendums in Herefordshire.
Local and neighbourhood plans are a part of the government’s aim to deliver one million homes by shifting planning powers away from Whitehall and down to community level.
Councils warned to keep track of enforcement action
An investigation by the Local Government Ombudsman (LGO) has uncovered a backlog of 1,500 open enforcement cases at a London borough.
The discovery came after the LGO received a complaint from a man claiming the London Borough of Hackney spent more than five years unsuccessfully trying to get his neighbour to remove an unauthorised extension.
