Melton Borough Council is ambitious for our communities, and through a new Corporate Strategy has made a clear commitment to make Melton cleaner, greener and more attractive. With the need to respond to changing government policy, implement food waste collections and deliver on the local aspirations to improve environmental quality, we are looking for a new Waste and Environmental Services Manager to play a key role leading this vital service area. You will have extensive technical knowledge across waste, environmental and cemetery services, be an experienced leader of customer-focussed and responsive services and know how to project manage and implement change and improvement. You will be positive and empathetic, with high levels of emotional intelligence, and know how to build productive and impactful relationships. You’ll be comfortable working with a wide array of stakeholders and be confident leading a small and dedicated in-house team, alongside effectively managing service contracts, particularly with our primary delivery partner Biffa.
As a council we have made firm commitments to work with and engage effectively with our community, and we would want the successful candidate to ensure their team provide responsive services, and recognise the value and contribution from our fantastic volunteer partners like Melton in Bloom; particularly as we strive to achieve the Gold award this year. You will also manage our Cemetery Service and work with colleagues across the council as we consider the feasibility of new cemetery provision in the Borough. This is a great opportunity to make your mark and join a positive, can-do team, passionate about delivering for their communities. If this sounds like something you’d love to be part of, we want to hear from you.
For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Michelle Howard, Director for Housing and Communities (Deputy Chief Executive) on 01664 504322.
