Essex Waste Partnership is offering expert advice for organisations in the county following new regulatory proposals on refuse streams.
Businesses of all sizes have been invited to a free online event on Tuesday 23rd April from 12.30 to 1.30PM. Delivered by Ambitious Essex, the aim is to ‘explore the draft Waste Strategy for Essex’, with a focus on what this means for companies trading in the area.
Essex Waste Partnership is made up of 12 district councils, one county council, in addition to city and borough level authorities, and representatives will be present to deal with any and all concerns surrounding policy changes.
This includes the requirement to separate recyclable materials from general waste, although the floor will also be open to questions pertaining to the impact on residents, not just firms. Currently, 80% of waste produced in Essex each year comes directly from commercial and industrial sources. This equates to around 2.8million tonnes annually.

Last month, Environment Journal reported on Essex County Council’s decision to permanently adopt a pre-booking system for recycling centres. Meanwhile, in January we covered news the authority had planted a huge wildflower meadow as part of its wider Essex Forest Initiative. Overall, the project will see 375,000 trees planted over a six year period.
